Is the Osaka Amazing Pass worth it for three days?

For one or two of the three days, yes. It costs 3,500 yen for one day and 5,000 for two, includes free entry to around forty attractions and unlimited Osaka Metro rides, and sales run to 31 March 2027. On the days you are mostly eating and walking, the Enjoy Eco Card at 820 yen on a weekday is the cheaper cover.

How much is the Osaka Metro for a day?

Singles are 190, 240 or 290 yen depending on distance. The Enjoy Eco Card gives unlimited rides for 820 yen on weekdays and 620 yen on weekends and holidays, so it pays from the fourth ride.

How much is Universal Studios Japan in 2026?

The 1-Day Studio Pass is date-priced and runs between roughly 8,400 and 11,900 yen for an adult, with the Express Pass sold separately. On busy days, areas such as Super Nintendo World also need a free timed-entry ticket taken through the USJ app.

What does Osaka Castle cost now?

The main tower and museum is 1,200 yen for adults, up from 600 yen in April 2025, open 9:00 to 18:00. It is covered by the Osaka Amazing Pass on pass days.

Is a day at Universal Studios enough?

One day covers the headline rides if you have the Express Pass or arrive for opening. Without it, a single day in a busy week can mean three or four rides, which is the case for buying the second day rather than the queue-skipping pass.

How do I get from Kansai Airport to Osaka?

The Nankai Airport Express reaches Namba in about 45 to 48 minutes for 970 yen. The Rapi:t limited express takes 38 minutes for 1,670 yen with a reserved seat. Both leave from Kansai Airport Station next to Terminal 1.

Can the Chureito pagoda and Lake Kawaguchi be done in one day from Tokyo?

Yes, and they sit on the same railway line. The 07:30 Fuji Excursion from Shinjuku stops at Shimoyoshida at 09:13, which is the pagoda's station, and reaches Kawaguchiko at 09:28. The two stations are 310 yen and fifteen minutes apart, so the day is the pagoda in the morning, lunch by the lake, and the northern shore in the afternoon. The last express back to Shinjuku leaves Kawaguchiko at 17:41.

Which station do I get off at for the pagoda?

Shimoyoshida, on the Fujikyu line. The Fuji Excursion calls there, and so does every local train, so you do not have to ride to Kawaguchiko and come back. It is a ten-minute walk to the foot of the stairs, 398 steps up, and the city's own figure is twenty-five minutes on foot from the platform to the tower. Honcho street, the shopping street with the mountain at the end of it, is five minutes from the same platform on the other side.

Is the pagoda free, and does it close?

Sengen Park is free and open around the clock, with toilets on site. The observation deck was rebuilt in 2022 and looks over Fujiyoshida towards the mountain. From 17:00 to 21:50 in October and November the park is lit, but the last express leaves Kawaguchiko at 17:41, so the light-up belongs to a night at the lake rather than a day trip. If you drive, the four city car parks cost 1,000 to 1,500 yen for six hours; buses and microbuses cannot enter the street at all.

How much is the Lake Kawaguchi ropeway, and when does it shut?

A return ticket is 1,000 yen for adults and 500 yen for children, and it rises to 1,200 yen and 600 yen on 1 November 2026. The line runs 8:30 to 17:00 with the last car down at 17:20, and to 18:00 from 20 July to 31 August. From 1 December to 28 February the last car up is 16:20. The swing and the lookout tower beside the summit station open 9:30 to 16:00 and close in rain or wind.

Do I need the bus day pass?

The one-day pass is 1,500 yen for adults and 750 yen for children, 2,000 yen for two days, and single rides start at 180 yen. It covers the red line, which runs from Kawaguchiko Station to the ropeway entrance in 11 minutes and to Oishi Park in 27. The pass turns on the third ride, so it pays for the ropeway and the lake in one afternoon. It is sold at the station window and on the bus itself, one-day tickets only.

What happens if the mountain is in cloud?

The pagoda is the safer half of the day, because the deck looks over the town whatever the summit is doing, and the morning is the clearest part of it. The ropeway publishes a live camera and the day's operating notices at the top of its own site, so check before you ride the bus out. Strong wind stops the gondola altogether, and then the deck at Sengen Park is the fallback rather than the summit.

Train or bus from Tokyo?

The Fuji Excursion is 4,010 yen to Shimoyoshida and 4,200 yen to Kawaguchiko, all seats reserved, four round trips a day, and it never sits in traffic. The highway coach is about 1 hour 45 minutes for 2,200 yen at the counter or 2,000 yen booked online, also reserved, and it stops at Chuo-do Shimoyoshida, five minutes on foot from the station. Its weakness is the way home: the Chuo Expressway into Tokyo on a Sunday afternoon is a queue.

Osaka is a city you can price on one page: two passes, four paid stops, one amusement park, and a food street that costs nothing to walk down.

Shape Day 1 is the pass day (castle, river cruise, observatories), Day 2 is the market and the food streets, Day 3 is either USJ or the bay. Put the park on the day the weather forecast is best, because nothing else in Osaka is weather-dependent.

1The three days in 2026, and which pass pays for which

The Osaka Amazing Pass is the one that matters: ¥3,500 for one day and ¥5,000 for two, with no child fare, on sale from 25 March 2026 to 31 March 2027. It carries free entry to something like forty attractions and unlimited rides on the Osaka Metro. That's why Day 1 should be built out of the places on its list.

2What the 2026 tickets cost, and where to buy them

Metro fares are distance-based: ¥190 within three kilometres, ¥240 from three to seven, ¥290 from seven to thirteen. The Enjoy Eco Card wipes that out for a day at ¥820 on a weekday and ¥620 at weekends and on holidays, which is cheaper than four singles.

3The USJ day needs two bookings, not one

And the Studio Pass is priced by date, moving between roughly ¥8,400 and ¥11,900 for an adult, and the Express Pass is a separate purchase again. On busy days an area like Super Nintendo World takes a timed-entry ticket, which is free but only from inside the USJ app once you're through the gate — so the day needs the pass bought in advance and the app installed before you go, not a queue decision at 9:00.

4Arriving, and the 2026 changes worth knowing

From Kansai the Nankai Airport Express reaches Namba in about 45 to 48 minutes for ¥970, and the Rapi:t limited express does it in 38 minutes for ¥1,670 with a reserved seat. But two 2026 changes bite: Osaka Castle's main tower went to ¥1,200 in April 2025 from ¥600, and the Amazing Pass sales window now runs to 31 March 2027, so an older guide quoting ¥2,800 for the pass is two revisions behind.

5What I would do

One Amazing Pass day and one Eco Card day is the cheapest version of this trip: the pass carries the castle and an observatory, the Eco Card carries the markets for ¥820. Skip the Express Pass unless the park is the whole point of the trip, and put the aquarium on the morning of the day you fly home, since it opens at 10:30 and takes two hours.
